Salt Lake County Family Photographer: Documentary Style Sessions
Your family isn’t posed. Your photos shouldn’t be either. I capture real, cinematic moments for families across Salt Lake County and the Great Salt Lake area, creating artwork for your walls that still feels like you.

What to expect DURING your session…
What to expect DURING your session…
Your family session is meant to feel fun, easy, and completely true to you. I focus on the real moments, the giggles, the twirls, the quiet coddles, because those are the memories that last.
I photograph families throughout Salt Lake County, especially in Sandy, Herriman, and Salt Lake City, while also serving Davis and Weber County. Whether we are chasing light at the Great Salt Lake, exploring the mountains, or wandering through your favorite neighborhood spot, every session is designed to capture your family exactly as you are.
When we meet, we start slow so everyone can settle in. I guide with simple prompts, walk together, spin your toddler, tell a ridiculous joke, but nothing feels stiff. Kids are encouraged to move, explore, and be themselves because the best images happen when your family is genuinely having fun.
By the end, you’ll forget we were even taking photos, and you’ll leave with cinematic, storytelling images that feel like art but still feel like you.
What to expect AFTER your session…
After your session, the excitement doesn’t have to wait. Within 1 to 3 days, you’ll receive a few sneak peek images to relive the magic and share with family and friends.
Your full gallery will be delivered within 6 weeks, as outlined in your contract. Every Salt Lake County family session is carefully hand-edited to ensure your images feel cohesive, natural, and timeless. I personally select and refine each photo so your gallery tells an honest, cinematic story from beginning to end.
My edits enhance the beauty of your family and the landscape, whether we’re photographing at the Great Salt Lake, in the mountains, or in your favorite neighborhood park, while keeping everything true to life.
Location, Location
I’m a documentary family photographer serving Salt Lake County, including Sandy, Herriman, and Salt Lake City, while also photographing families in Davis County communities like Layton, Farmington, and Syracuse. From the shores of the Great Salt Lake to mountain overlooks and neighborhood parks, Utah offers endless backdrops for honest, cinematic storytelling.
Whether it’s a family session, senior portraits, branding, or child photography, I’ll help you choose a location that reflects your story. Sessions outside Salt Lake County may include a travel fee, but your story can unfold anywhere.

"Maribeth was so wonderful to work with from the moment I reached out to her throughout the entire process. She was responsive to texts and willing to do whatever I wanted to make this experience everything I wanted it to be. She traveled to Antelope Island and made our evening memorable and fun, even though it was just a photo shoot. The pictures were delivered quickly, and they are beautiful. I highly recommend her for whatever you are considering a photographer for!"

A documentary-style family photography session focuses on real moments instead of stiff poses. I guide you just enough to keep things relaxed, but most of the time I’m capturing your family interacting naturally, laughing, playing, and being yourselves. The result is authentic, storytelling images that reflect your real life against beautiful Salt Lake County and Northern Utah landscapes.

Absolutely. I love photographing extended family sessions, whether it’s grandparents, cousins, or the whole crew. My Salt Lake County family photography sessions include up to 6 family members, and additional family members can be added for a small fee so everyone can be included comfortably.
If you’re planning a larger extended family session in Salt Lake, Davis, or Weber County, I’m happy to help coordinate groupings and make the process feel relaxed and organized.

Yes. I offer in-home lifestyle family photography sessions throughout Salt Lake County, as well as Davis and Weber County. These sessions capture your family in your natural element, whether that’s snuggling on the couch, playing in the backyard, or baking cookies together.
In-home sessions create warm, intimate storytelling images that are unique to your home and your family, while still maintaining the cinematic, documentary style I’m known for.
